      Michael Moorcock is an award winning English writer of fantasy and science fiction books but has also published literary novels. He was born in London, and the area of London particularly Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill Gate is a vital inspiration in some of his fiction books. Ex Machina launched in as part of DC Comics' Wildstorm imprint. The series ended in August with issue fifty. The title of the comic comes from the Latin phrase 'deus ex machina', and is also a reference to Hundred's superhero persona, the Great Machine, in that he is now an 'ex-Machine'. In the first issue, Mitchell explains that he chose the name "Great Machine" based on a quote Format: Ongoing series.
